Little Enough Response to the Help Stefan Campaign

As I've had little enough response to my Help Stefan Campaign I'm having to consider alternate means of getting more money.

The condition of her father in Liberia has deteriorated considerably and next week Stefan is talking of taking the bus from Dakar to Guinea, from there she will change to Freetown in Sierra Leone and from there she has to work-out a way of getting to Liberia. If only I could afford the airfare, then things would be so much easier.

I've tried putting-up pages for eBooks including:

Each of which goes to helping the Help Stefan Campaign. I also have the One Dollar SEO links where webmasters can purchase non-reciprocal links for $1 which are guaranteed to be valid and remain live for the life of the website and which will never exceed 100 links in length so that all links on a given page will be indexed. Again, take-up is extremely slow with only a few links having been taken-up thus far.

So, this weekend, in desperation I'm trying every trick I can to make some money for this campaign. The latest approach is to try the 'Hubpages' site both to generate additional income and to drive more traffic to my main Celtnet site

Unfortunately these are likely to be long-term solutions to generating a second income and I need money now so that I can help the love of my life. I am so despondent at the moment, and so terrified at the journey Stefan is planning to make. These trips are not something for a woman to undertake alone, especially as she is leaving her son behind and will be gone for several weeks. You cannot imagine how I feel at the moment and the fear that constantly gnaws within me. But without others' help I can do nothing but persevere with what I'm doing and try to gain as much money as I can, even if that means selling things like the computers I have in the house at the moment.

The only answer is to make more income and there's no real way of doing that without effort, unless someone comes along to help and that's not looking very likely, I'm afraid.

Help Stefan Charity Campaign

The Help Stefan Charity Campaign is gaining pace in terms of exposure and publicity. Just check the keywords 'help stefan' or 'one dollar links' on google to see how succesful this has been. However, all the hard work and publicity just hasn't converted into and additional income for the site. Only a handful of people have made any donations and matters are coming to a head.

Stefan is planning to journey to Freetown in Sierra Leone this week and she's going to do it by road using a bus. This is not good for someone who has just recovered from malaria and the fault is down to the Sierra Leonian passport office who would not give her a passport in time. Even wors, she will have to travel across Sierra Leone into Liberia to see her father in hospital. The situation in Sierra Leone is not great at the moment, with the elections coming up there. There has been sporadic violence and I am desperately afraid for her having to travel across several potentially dangerous countries.

Then there is her father's condition which is deteriorating and without a rapid injection of funds into the campaign I am afraid that Stefan will be undertaking a very dangerous cross-country journey only to see her father for the last time. If there was anything I could do to ensure that the money necessary would get to Dakar, Senegal then I would do it. I've done what I can with the website and the advertising and publicity, it's just that none of this work is converting into money flowing into the campaign. And the time is getting short, very short.

If you can help in any way then please donate with the button on the left. If you cannot afford even $1 then please circulate the letter below to your friends and family. Remember that by donating to this campaign you will alter and improve the life of someone who has survived so much in the face of adversity. Who has faced civil wars and fleeing across West Africa with nothing. Who had a child on the road, caught malaria and survived both experiences, who has been badly injured and abused yet whose faith ramains unshakeable.

But now that faith is being sorely tested and only through your help can Stefan and Zogo make a clean break with the past and begin putting their lives back together again.

Please note also that the Help Stefan Charity Campaign is not looking for handouts. If you are a webmaster then you can list your site on the One Dollar Links page (currently #2 in Google for 'one dollar links' keyword so your site will be seen). Larger donations get you copies of my eBook of Poetry 'Memories of Myth and Man' as well as my Cooking with Spices eBook 300+ pages detailing 57 spices and recipes showing how to cook with them. This eBook also has a section on Indian Restaurant Recipes so that, at home, you can make the same recipes as found in your local Indian Restaurant/Take-away.

Many recipes from Stefan are also available on my African Recipes main page which also has donation buttons for the 'Help Stefan' Charity campaign.

A letter from the Webmaster: I would like to introduce to you Stefan and her son Zogo.

They are true survivors who escaped the civil wars of Liberia and Sierra Leone in the early 200s to make their way on foot through Guinea (where both developed malaria) to Senegal, The Gambia and now Dakar, Senegal. There they are refugees and have no legal status. As such they cannot earn any money and are eking-out a hand to mouth existence. Though that's not how they would put it. However, Stefan believed her entire family to have been massacred. But now, with my aid she has discovered her father to be alive but in very bad health with a heart condition. He needs $10 000 for hospital bills and for the operation that may save his life. Stefan herself has recently been very ill with malaria and has been hospitalized herself at a cost of $3000.

I love this woman very much, but with her hospitalization I have now spent my last penny so I'm turning to the internet in the hope of gaining donations to help Stefan's father Alfred. I am also looking for the airfare to send Stefan to her father's side. I would also be like to take several months off work so that I can travel to Senegal to look after the boy, Zogo. The total cost of all this will come to more than $20 000, so I'm imploring for your help.

The home page for the campaign is at http://www.celtnet.org.uk/info/help-stefan.php where you can make your donation securely via PayPal.

If you are interested in recipes then, if you donate $10 you will get a copy of my eBook 'Guide to Spices' at http://www.celtnet.org.uk/info/spice-book.php.

A $5 donation gets you a copy of my poetry eBook 'Memories of Myth and Man'.

If you are a webmaster then your $1 donation will get you a permanent link to your site on http://www.celtnet.org.uk/info/one-dollar-links.php

Please help me to re-build the life of a woman who has lost so much.

Thank you for your aid.

Yours

So Worried abut Stefan

Today I admit to being terrified for several reasons. Stefan is much better and out of hospital. Indeed, she managed to make it to church this morning (she is deeply religious, though I am not). All of this means that she will now be on the road to recovery and when fully recovered she will want to travel down to Sierra Leone.

Unfortunately she needs to do this journey for two reasons. First of these is to visit her father and I am so sad to have to tell her that my Help Stefan Campaign has been almost a complete bust. Despite plastering the campaign all over my site and having almost 900 visitors a day only two people have made any donations. This is terrible. I spend thousands of hours a week making all the information on my site available free to everyone, but when I ask, plitely, for $1 to help someone else (not even me) the world turns a blind eye. Ah well.

The second reason for Stefan's trip to Sierra Leone is that she needs a passport before she can put in an application for a visit to come to the UK. She had already done this by courier but the passport office in Sierra Leone have been holding her passport to ransom for the past 4 months, requesting that she pay an additional $300 for 'legal documents' before she could get a passport. The only way for Stefan to gain a passport therefore is to get to Freetown and make an application in person.

Even worse I cannot afford the airfare for her. Tomorrow I will have to pay her rent and utiliteis bills (almost $1000 which I pay every month); I have already paid for the hospital treatment due to her malaria ($3500 and I had to really persuade her to go into hospital) so my debts are mounting and I have no money left over to live myself, but that's OK, Stefan is the most important thing in my life).

But this means that Stefan will have to leave her son behind and travel overland to reach Seirra Leone (and travel overland back). She cannot drive so she will be at the mercy of a driver and the dangers of travelling throug Senegal, Guinea and Sierra Leone none of which are exactly for a single woman travelling alone. Which explains why I am terrified and why I am disappointed by the lack of response to my campaign. I am so desperate to be there with this woman, to protect her and to look after her. Her survival is my future and if anything were to happen to her then I could not live with myself. But without your help I cannot do anything and the time is so short now.

I've even been busy creating press releases but none of which have created any additional income for the site and the campaign. I am so afraid that something will happen to this woman I love.

I must give her whatever I have to make her trip safer but this means that what little money I have for myself is dwindling. I will not be able to call her as often as I do, I may not even be able to visit her for Christmas and so, the wedding we had planned as the start of our lives together may not occur in December, if at all. But I do still have the money for her visa application and that's OK.

Now, though, she has to make a dangerous trip through West Africa entirely alone and she will be going to visit her family for the last time, rather than going to see him gain an operation that could save his life. Everything is going so, so wrong for us.

Please visit Help Stefan Campaign.

Remember, if you are a webmaster then your donation will get you a permanent link on the One Dollar Links page. Larger donations will get you a copy of my Poetry eBook or my Cooking with Spices eBook. Soon I will follow this with a book of African Recipes and a 'Cooking with Herbs' eBook.

Just remember that Stefan and her son, Zogo, have survived two civil wars, a journey on foot through some of the roughest parts of West Africa. Both are surviving with malaria and living in Dakar, Senegal they are effectively stateless and have no political or economic rights whatsoever. Indeed, they are not legally allowed to work or earn money in Senegal and like all the other Liberian/Sierra Leonian refugees there they are living a hand-to-mouth existence. This is why I am supporting them every month with money for rent, utiliteis and food but I cannot do much more than that. They now have a chance to re-build a shattered family, to re-unite themselves with a father who they thought was lost (remember almost all of Stefan's family was massacred and she, herself, has been brutally attacked, injured and abused on several occasions). She is a true survivor and would never make this appeal on behalf of herself. But I have the chance, through this campaign, to make her life whole again, to allow her to finally let go of the past and to make a life with someone who truly loves her.

But I cannot do that withoug your assistance. Please support the Help Stefan Campaign and and make a real difference to two refugees' lives. Remember, the refugees from Liberia and Sierra Leone are the 'forgotten refugees' or Africa. All moneys beyond that which is necessary to help Stefan herself will go towards the other Liberian/Sierra Leonian refugees in Senegal. Their plight needs to be brought to the world's attention lest they be forgotten forever.

It's not even that Stefan is doing this for nothing. She is dictating recipes to me for the African Recipes section of my Celtnet Recipes site. Please support the Help Stefan Campaign and give something back to a woman who is willing to give to you everything she knows.

Only you can turn her/our lives around, please help Stefan and her little boy Zogo (only 5) gain a new life in the UK. Support the Help Stefan Campaign now.

What the Help Stefan Campaign is About

If you have been reading or visiting my Help Stefan page then you will know what this campaign is all about. But if you haven't visited that page yet then the aims of the campaign are as follows:

1. To allow Stefan's father to have a life-saving operation so that the surviving members of her family can be re-united
2. To allow Stefan to visit her father in Freetown, Sierra Leone and to make the journey there as safe for her as it can be.
3. To allow me to travel to Senegal to look after Stefan's son, Zogo whilst his mother is away.
4. To give Stefan the orthodontic work she needs to repair her upper jaw.
5. To give Stefan a wedding to remember in December so that we can live together in the UK as a family; thus ensuring the new future I promised her.
6. To set-up a fund so that the remaining Liberian refugees in Dakar can have an English-language school for their children to repace the UN school that has just closed.

I am hoping that the fund, once started can continue to help other Liberiand and Sierra Leonian refugees in Dakar. But I have an immediate need to aid one single person to turn her life around. Please help me make 2007 the year of recovery for her.

I am not even asking for charity here in that you will get something for all your donations. If you are a webmaster then a $1 donation will get your site listed on my One Dollar Links pages. A $10 donation gets you a permanent link on the campaign's Home Page. Even if you're not a webmaster, a $1 donation gets your name on the web page as a 'Friend of Stefan'. A $5 donation gets you a copy of my Poetry eBook, even better a $10 donation gets you a copy of my Guide to Cooking with Spices recipe eBook.

A small donation on your part will help completely transform the life of a woman and child who have suffered so much.
